Matthew Long is a singer with a rich powerful voice that belongs to the golden age of croon and melody.
Matthew was influenced musically by his grandparents’ record collection. Whilst his school friends were listening to chart music he developed an encyclopedic knowledge of music and a vinyl collection of more than 1000 records. As a versatile performer, Matthew has played keyboards in a rock band and written a charity Christmas song which raised funds for one of the biggest children’s hospitals in the country.
In 2012, the Birmingham-born entertainer embarked on his solo singing career. He’s recently sold out a venue in his hometown of Shirley, Solihull with a show celebrating “The Great Crooners” – backed by a jazz combo, singing to an audience of nearly 200. Now, Matthew is setting out on his first ever concert tour, celebrating the music of Perry Como, Frank Sinatra, Matt Monro and more! Matthew is also the UK’s leading authority on Perry Como, and the laid-back singing legend’s influence is evident in Matt’s vocal style. In his teens Matt founded the Perry Como Appreciation Society, which he still runs. Using his multi-media skills, Matt has produced and narrated documentaries about Como that have been broadcast across the world, as well as meeting the singers’ brother in his US hometown.
Matthew can be booked as a standalone, one-man show performing to backing tracks, or supported by a Jazz Quartet, covering styles from Easy Listening to Light Rock ‘N’ Roll.
