Eureka Jazz

Welcome to the Eureka Jazz band – professionalism and flexibility are their trademark. They are a traditional Jazz band based in Birmingham, West Midlands UK, willing to travel anywhere, home, or abroad. They play melodic and jazzy tunes from the Great American Songbook of the 1920, 30s and 40s.

Band sizes range from a trio or quartet to a full parade band. They play mobile or static, with or without amplification and NEVER too loud for the occasion. Sets, band line up & duration can be tailored to suit the occasion. They are a popular choice for Hotel Receptions, Dinner Dances, Parties, Weddings, Carnivals and Funerals.

Additional Extra’s

  • Add to the fun and spectacle of your summer event with Eureka playing in their genuine open vintage car. The car can also be hired separately for weddings.
  • Their resident singer, Sheila Fawkes, can be included in any of their band packages. She can add warmth and personality to the act and be the master of ceremonies.
  • The strolling band can weave through audiences and crowds creating a jolly atmosphere. Ideal for events such as street parties, opening ceremonies and fetes. This option can include a mobile dancer/vocalist!
  • Add all the razz-ma-tazz to your occasion with a full New Orleans parade band fronted by a dancing "Grand Marshal" complete with parade brolly.

Funerals

The Eureka Funeral Band has been offering this service for many years in the UK. In New Orleans there has long been a tradition of employing a live band to play at funerals as you may have seen in the James Bond Film, ‘Live & Let Die’. They play old-time tuneful melodies, mainly from the 1920s, 30s & 40s. These could include New Orleans spirituals e.g. Old Rugged Cross, Saints Go Marching In, Just a Closer Walk with Thee, or just popular tunes from the Great American Song Book. A four-piece band is usual, to lead the funeral cortege from the gates of the cemetery to the door of the chapel or graveside, However, this could range from a solo saxophone player through to a full jazz parade band. Musicians will be dressed in smart red or black uniforms. A Grand Marshal, to dance in front of the band, can be added for extra spectacle.

I would like to thank you all for the great music you played today in the ceremony at Inkberrow Village Hall. There was no time to talk to you afterwards as we were obviously off to the green burial ground.  I have had Jazz played "live" before in ceremonies, but never so many of you and certainly never so good. I will keep your details in case another family require something similar. Grateful thanks once again - and keep it going! - Thelma Brazier (British Humanist Association)

I want to thank you and the band for making it such a wonderful send-off for my lovely Mom.  Everyone commented on what a wonderful send-off we gave her and you were very much part of that. Your playing at both the crematorium and the wake was perfect in every way - the choice of songs and the mood you created. I know how much my mother enjoyed herself when you played at her 80th and eight years later she would have loved the fact that you were playing for her again - Sandy Walsh

My sincere thanks to you and the "boys" for travelling over to Bridgnorth for what proved to be a windy corner at St Marys on the occasion of my father's funeral. My brothers and I, as well as the many mourners present, thought that the Eureka Jazz Band gave John Waugh a wonderful "send-off". So, on behalf of my brothers and I: THANK YOU - Gill, Bob and Alex Waugh. Bridgnorth.

We were all thrilled with the atmosphere you and the members of Eureka created.  Thank you very much.  Many people have commented on the Jazz in their letters - Anne & Anthony Prosser, Solihull
